Entomo is a future colloquialism for entomophagy, the consumption of insects. While many animals eat insects, there are today “3,000 ethnic groups” that “practice entomophagy.”

Typically, western cultures see eating insects as gross. But by Rosella Tolfree’s time, the consumption of insects has become commonplace.

This is because the hotter weather caused by global warming has resulted a decline in large farm animals. And despite the early 21st Century’s attempt at trying to get people to adopt vegan meats, the harvesting of My Pet Dragons as an alternative source of meat was adopted globally by Rosella's time. Smaller farm animals such as chickens and sheep have been maintained but not in large quantities and are now only for the wealthy or specialty restaurants. The 3-D printing of meat from cell lines has also become common.

But this is still not enough to feed the World’s population so alternative foods are always being sought.

The Bug Chief

The Entomo Diet became popularized by Bug Chef Maurice Bonnotte who traveled around North America with his Bug Food Truck cooking food made from bugs for sizeable crowds of enraptured fans. His popularity exploded on the scene during the early transition of the internet into the Social Media Net, and help to popularize the transition of North America away from heavy meat consumption.

His recipes included cricket tacos and mealworms with wasabi aioli.
While entomophagy is nothing new, Bug Chef has brought the idea to the mainstream and made it cool. He had also shown that you don’t have to eat insects in their natural form. They can be ground into a flour, used as an additive in other recipes or cooked whole like any other food.
